The Nuna Pipa is an easy-to-use infant car seat that’s designed with smart features for quicker and easier installation. It comes with a plush infant insert, removable shoulder pads on the harness and a fully extendable canopy. It’s also light and has an ergonomic handle to make it easy for you to transport your little one in comfort.
The seat is available in two versions: the standard Pipa and the Lite LX version, which costs about $80 more than the Pipa. The Lite is significantly lighter than the standard, but still has a few drawbacks that may be a deal-breaker for some families.
How to Install It Without the Base
The Nuna Pipa can be installed without a base in cars that don’t have a LATCH system. This is called a baseless installation, and it’s safe and secure and works well with most vehicles.
To install the seat without the base, first place the carrier portion of the Pipa on your vehicle’s seat with the harness facing the back. Then, carefully extend the vehicle’s seat belt and thread the ap portion of the belt through the belt guides on the top of the carrier.
Once the seat is secured, test for movement by moving it from side to side and front and back. If the seat moves less than one inch, you’re good to go!
You can remove the cover of the car seat using the quick-release button on the side. After that, lift and pull the plastic tabs to remove the cover. Then, you can unhook the other seat belts from the cover and push them through the holes on the car seat.
How to Clean It
The Nuna Pipa is machine washable, so you can get it cleaned up with a quick rinse in cold water and a short spin in the dryer. This will help to eliminate any stains and keep it looking new.
This is great for parents who don’t want to spend a lot of time spot-cleaning their baby’s car seat, but aren’t willing to invest in a high-end seat that costs a lot. The original Pipa’s seat cover can be removed and washed in the washer, so it’s a great option for people who have babies that spend a fair amount of time in the car.
Another advantage of the Pipa Lite is that it uses a fabric blend made from merino wool and Tencel, which are more environmentally friendly than polyester. This makes it a good choice for eco-conscious parents who are looking for a comfortable, safe and durable seat.
What to Expect
It’s hard to know whether a baby will love his or her seat until they’re in it, but our testers said that the Pipa’s padding was soft and plush. They felt that it gave their babies a comfy ride and helped them stay calm.
The Pipa Lite doesn’t have the same padding as the standard model, but it’s still a good choice for most babies. It has the same infant insert, a low birth weight pillow, and two crotch buckle positions for babies between 6.5 and 11 pounds. It’s also got an adjustable hood and an extension canopy, so it can accommodate many different growth stages and needs.
