Car Seat Keyfit Review

car seat keyfit

Car seat keyfit is one of the best infant carseats for parents looking to keep their babe safe and comfortable on all their adventures. Its user-friendly design and exceptional safety ratings make it an easy choice for new parents. It is also very lightweight, making it easier to transport from one vehicle to another when needed.

The Chicco Keyfit is engineered with innovative features that make it one of the easiest infant car seats to install simply, accurately, and securely. Its premium LATCH connectors and one-pull SuperCinch tightener ensure a quick and easy installation, while the RideRight bubble level indicators and spring-loaded leveling foot help achieve and verify proper vehicle seat angle. The Keyfit’s integrated lockoff also helps to hold the vehicle seat belt tight and prevent accidental release during use.

Another great feature of the Keyfit is its narrow base, which makes it very compact front to back and fits in vehicles that may not have room for other rear-facing convertible car seats with a wider base. This is especially helpful in small sedans and hatchbacks.

The Keyfit also has a simple one-hand release that allows for quick and easy removal of the carrier from the base. This is a huge time saver for busy parents and helps to prevent car seat straps from becoming twisted while being transferred in and out of the vehicle. The carrier itself also has a large handlebar that is easy to grasp, and the whole car seat weighs less than 10 pounds, so it is light enough for anyone to carry.

One of the keys to the Chicco Keyfit’s ease of use is its great crash test results. Its sensor tests score well above the average for infant car seats, and its overall ease of use rating from NHTSA is high. The Keyfit also performs well in the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety’s simulated crashes, giving peace of mind to parents that their baby is protected in a real crash.

In our expert evaluation of the Chicco Keyfit, we found that it has many unique features that set it apart from other car seats. Its padded infant insert and bottom harness slots allow the seat to fit newborns and small premature babies very well, which is not always the case with other seats. Its no-rethread harness means that the headrest height can be adjusted without removing and re-feeding the straps, which is an advantage over other similar infant carseats.

If you are planning to travel with the Keyfit, it is worth mentioning that the model without the base has the least difficult method of installing with the vehicle seat belt, although it still is not as easy as other seats we’ve tested. We did not find the Keyfit to be very stable in our sedan and small SUV test cars when installed with the vehicle seat belt, and we think that a built-in anti-rebound bar would improve this. The Keyfit also does not have a no-rethread harness option on the OG model, and while we don’t consider this to be a deal breaker for most parents, it is something to keep in mind.
