Auto Trends Seat Cover Installation
Today, many auto enthusiasts look at seat covers as a very important way to improve their cars’ looks. It is not uncommon to find car owners shopping for the best available aftermarket auto seat cover in order to improve the outlook of their cars. Aftermarket car accessories can be as subtle or as radical as one can imagine. One can choose from headliners, floor mats, steering wheel covers, grilles, and a host of other products. But before going out and making a purchase, it is always important to consider what kind of seat cover installation is ideal for an individual’s car.
Installing auto seat covers involves a couple of basic steps. The first step involves removing the existing headliner. This is best accomplished by pulling or tugging the fabric away from the inside rear corner of the headliner. Next, the fabric needs to be removed from the rear window area. This is achieved by folding and unfolding the fabric, securing it in place with elastic bands, and then pulling the fabric away from the glass before sliding the window up and out of the frame.
Once the old seat cover is removed, the next step involves folding the new seat cover over the window and securing it in place using elastic bands. After the new seat has been secured, a new seat mat needs to be installed. Usually, this is done in the vehicle’s factory installation location. However, if a person does not have access to the facility, most auto body shops will install the new seat cover and vinyl mat in their garage. Thereafter, it is simply a matter of slipping the cover over the new seat and back into place.
Before going out and purchasing a new auto seat cover, there are some important details to consider. First, it is important to consider which size of seat cover is preferred. Most auto seat covers come in standard sizes, but there are also some custom-sized seat covers that are available. The number of adjustments that are available per seat may also impact the decision, as well as the amount of time that it will take to install the seat cover.
Once the right cover is selected, it is time for the actual installation process. A car owner should always make sure that he or she has unplugged the power cord from the vehicle prior to beginning the installation process. One should never attempt to install the cover if a power cord is still attached to the plug. If a person has not unplugged the cord before beginning the installation process, he or she should place the cover on a flat surface and begin to unhook the clips. When the clips reach the front of the cover, it is time to unhook them and insert them into their corresponding holes on the car cover.
Once the clips are in their corresponding holes, one should carefully pull the cover back toward oneself. By doing so, the cover will be held taut against the car body and will not sag or move during the ride. Before completing the installation, a person should ensure that the back of the cover is tight against the back of the vehicle, and that the installation is completed snugly. It is not uncommon for some models of auto covers to be slightly off-center, which can make it appear that a person’s seat has been relocated.
